# Bot personalizer

> Customize your bot's name, avatar, and personality.

The bot personalizer lets you change how the bot appears and behaves in your server. You can set a custom display name, upload an avatar image, and write an AI-generated backstory that shapes the bot's tone in auto-responses.

## Configure the bot personalizer

  <Step title="Open the dashboard">
    Go to the [BrewBot Dashboard](https://brewbot.gg) and select your server.

  <Step title="Navigate to Bot Personalizer">
    Open the **Bot Personalizer** page from the sidebar.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set a display name">
    Enter a custom name for the bot. This is the name that appears in your server.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Upload an avatar">
    Upload an image to use as the bot's avatar. Square images work best.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Write a backstory">
    Write a backstory or personality description for the bot. This backstory influences the bot's tone and style when it generates auto-responses in your server.

  Keep the backstory short and specific. A few sentences describing the bot's personality and tone produce better results than a long, detailed biography.
